Second Generation smart fortwo Electric Drive Goes Into Series Production

Second generation electric smart fortwo aims for November 2009 rollout to leasing customers in major cities for a four-year 60,000 km (37,300 miles) test runs, and a 2012 availability at dealers. Specs include efficient lithium-ion battery, 30 kW electric motor, 120 Nm (88.5 ft-lbs) of torque, and a range of 84 miles per charge.
