The CARS final rule has been published to set forth requirements and procedures for the voluntary vehicle trade-in and purchase/lease program under the Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act of 2009. This program helps consumers pay for a new, more fuel efficient car or truck from a participating dealer when they trade in a less fuel efficient car or truck.



smart fortwo cdi: 21 Percent More Power, Still the CO2 Champion

For model year 2010 the smart fortwo cdi has been given a clear power boost, yet it remains just as economical and environmentally friendly as before. In future the state-of-the-art three-cylinder diesel engine will produce 21 percent more power and deliver approximately 18 percent more maximum torque. Although this extra power makes the popular two-seater car noticeably livelier, it does not affect its exemplary fuel consumption.



Mercedes-Benz E-Class: New, Efficient Four-Cylinder E 200 Ready to Roll

Mercedes-Benz is adding to the engine line-up for the new E-Class by introducing two economical four-cylinder models. The E 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY developing 100 kW/136 hp achieves 45 miles per gallon (mpg) or 5.2 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers, while the new E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY has an output of 135 kW/184 hp and consumes 33 mpg or 7.2 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers.
